[Scribus] Guides don't show up

I'm using CVS 1.3.3.

I've used Manage Guides to create vertical guides at 0.5in and 8in (US 
letter).  I've enabled guides in viewing and set them to bright orange.

They don't show up on the page, and objects are not snapping to the 
location.

Is there something else I need to do?
